Overview

The Community Education Unit of the Cherry Hill Fire Department was created in September 2001. The personnel assigned to this unit were charged with the challenge, responsibility and opportunity to initiate this critical component of our fire protection mission. The Community Education Unit was implemented to improve the quality of life for residents, business owners, merchants and visitors to the community. We intend to implement a multi-pronged approach to reach our children, older adults and every citizen. The primary goal - Fire Safety Through Education and Prevention.

Cherry Hill, like most communities, has a diverse population base and a myriad of businesses and cultures. Each section of the community has its own respective needs and issues relative to their safety and survival during an emergency. The Community Education Unit is committed to identifying each of these populations and groups and taking whatever steps are necessary to insure their safety and enhanced quality of life.

The success of the Community Education Unit is already apparent. The expansion and enhancement of existing programs, such as our "Babysitter Training Program", has been noted by our community leaders, parents, and the public we interface with. The creation of new programs, The Swim Club & Lifeguard Training and our Safe Home Program for Elderly and Disabled Residents, have already had an impact on the way Cherry Hill citizens look at safety.

Educational programs that focus on the needs of various businesses and community groups are scheduled throughout the year to help promote a team approach to keeping the community and businesses safe. Information, literature and safety bulletins are available to provide guidance to all seeking assistance.

We continue every day to expand this critical component of the Cherry Hill Fire Department. The information and pages here at cherryhillfire.org can be very helpful in planning your family's safety. Be sure to look for the links to all our printable brochures. You can see them all on our "Reports" page, accessible from our menu. These checklists and bulletins will assist you every day in making you and your family safe, which is our ultimate mission.
